Since early 2020 this has been my passion project, sharing my love of firearms and history! We have so far explored guns from the late 1800s through the modern day, with an emphasis on the weaponry of WWI and WWII, new content is posted a minimum of every two weeks!

Luger P08 Vs Walther P38, Nazi 9mm Showdown
Such a slick looking design
A1...how much money?
When I bought this one it was right around eight hundred but most of them I’ve seen lately have been over a thousand
If the model has the letters L.E.b. on the frame below rac would you assume it can fire smokless powder
I still use old school black powder just to be safe, it is 130 years old after all, but theoretically it should be safer than one that doesn’t have those markings
Awesome man !! Great bit of kit . It’s great that you have access to original hardware like this . Hats off to you sir ! ✊🙏
It was definitely a neat one to get to play with!
Very cool backdrop for a table top review 👍
Thanks!
Hey Thomas, short simple understandable explanation. Just what has been needed for a long time.
Thanks! I’m just glad I got the opportunity to play with one lol
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry Do you get try using it?😁
Like and share this video everyone .✊✊❤️🇦🇺
If it sticks around long enough they actually did say I could take it out to test at the range! Dunno why but my original reply was deleted by RUclips
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry saying the 'wrong' thing? A curse of modern media. I hope you do get a chance to try it.
Thanks for showing. Greetings from 🇦🇹
Thanks for watching!
Very cool, Thank you for sharing! 👍🏽😊❤️🇺🇸
Thanks for watching!
This deserves a subscription!
Thank you kindly!
Closing the bolt with the clip can cause damage to the clip itself :)
I used this rifle in hell let loose, and I didn't like the sights, I prefer the ww2 version
Safety is a pain
Still has dust cover on bolt I'll take you back too the 80s in the 70s had one sporterized in 7.7 walnut and maple stock sportized Indestructible
The only thing wrong with the 1911 is my disability doesn't agree with grip safeties and our ridiculous calibre restrictions limit who can have one. I hope you had a happy birthday.
Thank you kindly!
Looks almost as fun as Ma Duece 🇦🇺
I haven’t had the opportunity to fire one of those yet but man if I ever get the chance…
Thanks for sharing another now banned item as we are only allowed to compete with pistols with a barrel longer than 4.72 inches in your language.
Such a pointless law, sorry you guys have to deal with that kind of regulations.
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry Yeah we also have calibre limits when it comes to pistols and farmers, trappers and professional pest shooters who were until a few years ago were trusted with pistols in certain circumstances were refused renewal when their licences expired.
Interesting fact, while many claim that the SMLE was superior than the G98 Mauser due to it's higher magazine capacity, most British soldiers didn't even fully load their rifle. As not only did this take longer to do, having to load in 2 stripper clips instead of one, having a fully stacked mag really put strain on the spring and could cause feeding problems, which as you would imagine were less than ideal on a battlefield. In turn, most British soldiers still had five rounds in their rifle, just as the Germans did.
Trash
Great find! I’ve been looking for one of these too
Definitely worth it if you can find one!
Pronouncing Walther the way you do is like painful to the ears and I’m not even German I’m sorry like To me it sounds wrong to pronounce German names as if they were English. 🤷♂️
the rifle that thai can't own. lol
It's on the bucket list
As an Aussie can I just say thank you for not calling it a three ought three or the equally irritating three nought three. As a new sub i look forward to working my way through all of your previous and future videos.
Glad you found the channel! Can’t say I’ve ever personally heard “three ought three” but I think I’d immediately be annoyed if I heard someone say it lol. We do call .30-06 “thirty ought six” but that (at least to me) makes some degree of sense as the .30 and the 06 are noticeably separated. I digress. Anyway thanks for watching! Always happy to get another sub 👍🏻
One of my mentors from our semi auto days had one in his collection with some anti Semitic Arabic writing on the butt supposedly from the Six Day War. I hope he is still on this side of the grass.
This one has some Arabic writing on the butt in white paint as well but I haven’t translated it
Rdr2
I have the same issue I own a very rare Delta Elite Gold Cup keeping the original parts going to install bobbed hammer and drop in beavertail so I don't get bit and I can enjoy the pistol
Oh wow
Why do people say that gun is inaccurate? Is it true, or is it just guntubers being guntubers?
I never personally heard people claim it is inaccurate, but I’d say it’s definitely not in my experience.
👍👍😃
Least accurate because wrong ammo. U prob have .264 rounds, they shot high and to the right. If u get .267-268 they will be accurate with iron sights up to 300 yds
I have never fired a Finnish Mosin. I have a 91/30. How is the bolt on the Finnish Mosin compared to the 91/30?
Considerably smoother, the Finns did wonders to these things
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry I figured it would be smoother. Thanks for the feedback, good sir.
有坂!! It is almost impossible to own a rifle in Japan, so it is nice to see this
It locks back on the follower, and the original one looks kind of bent up. Maybe you can just bend it back. It is already not working, so if you eff it up, idk how much that matters. Same thing happens if you have bullets that you 1911 doesn't like it will lock back instead of cycling.
They were taken apart when sent back to the US, many dust covers were lost or swapped. The Japanese used them, because it was an effective protection and it doesnt make noise (I have one, the cleaning rods make more noise). Also it was military property, meaning you get punished for losses. Also the photos of these rifles when they got captured always have dust covers
I have a Type 30 bayonet and a Type 38 rifle, both from Tokyo Arsenal
Very nice
Nice job working the action with the dust cover.
Thanks! This one is surprisingly smooth, it can bind a bit but I almost have to make that happen intentionally
Funny because I have a colt police positive special … Chambered in 38S&W That is a former Royal Hong Kong Police duty gun… RHKP marked guns are apparently fairly sought after….
Will you be doing the Lebel next video? I would love to see that!
I very much want to but I don’t own one yet unfortunately, as soon as I get one it will be done! 👍🏻
I have one of these that was manufactured at the end of the war so it is ugly as sin but man it shoots good!
Can u do one on the hanyang 88
If I had the bayonet I would, but bayonets for those are about as common as hens teeth
this video actually created a beautiful sound between the music and the rifle chefs kiss
Thank you kindly!
I can smell the gunpowder in this video
Glorious, isn’t it?
Very
I have a Type 38 from sometime towards the end of production of the 26th series. Intact mum and markings with original paint inside. Nagoya Arsenal 26th series Type 38, mid 79000s SN so estimating sometime around 1938-1940. Edit for more info on that bayonet: That bayonet was actually produced by Toyoda Jidou Shokki. Toyoda Automatic Loomworks.
Very nice 👍🏻
Oh hey! I have a Nagoya 27th series. Series neighbors.
You don't shoot as straight with that thing on...
Well yes and no, it throws off the balance of the rifle making it harder to shoot straight but the sights were actually set to it having the bayonet attached so the gun technically hits closer to point of aim with the bayonet
smooth bore or rifled?
Rifled, almost everything post 1860 is 👍🏻
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry I read somewhere that because the cost of rifling and the time/materials/resources were so demanding that some of the only ones to be rifled were issued to the troops and they were producing unrifled variants for training purposes. Mine is smooth bore but post 1860
@user-py2zx2sv3r that tracks, a lot of the last ditch stuff from late in WWII (particularly in Japan) had cost saving corners cut as the war went on
Does yours happen to be a training rifle? Interestingly I was at the gun store I bought this from just a bit ago and this topic came up. Apparently the Japanese training rifles specifically were smooth bore
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry i'm not sure of the exact history of my rifle other than my dad bought it from a pawn shop in the '80s. truth be told i'm not knowledgeable on all things arisaka. I have a shorter barreled one with rifling and a long one without it. I know that it has a chrysanthemum/lotus stamp on it with a couple of chisel marks to prevent the symbol of the emperor from falling into enemy hands and that the round is almost obsolete.
Beautiful rifle. Do you mind me asking how much it sold for?
Thanks! If memory serves I believe I paid about $650 for it and another $100 for the bayonet
Does it have the chrysanthemum mark on it? 👍🏽😊❤️🇺🇸
Yes indeed! I am very fortunate to have both a Type 99 and Type 38, both with mums and dust covers 👍🏻
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponryI also have a mum but missing dust cover and no bayonet.
My favorite bolt-action rifle of all time. I've got a 1944 Kokura Arsenal series 24 in my collection and it's an absolute gem.
Why is the bayonet so wobbly
The bayonet’s and rifles were made separately by a multitude of factories all over Japan, tolerances were far from exact. Its near impossible to find a bayonet that tightly fits with these cause they weren’t really made as a “set”
Pretty much the same with my Garand and m1 bayonet
Not really an issue either way
It's a Walter not a Luger 👉
I am aware, never said it was a Luger I just mentioned the Luger
